Supreme Court rulings reshape legal landscape

In a series of momentous decisions, the U.S. Supreme Court concluded its 2021-22 term by reshaping the contours of American law. The direct and indirect impact of these decisions will affect every home and business in the nation. Our individual freedoms have been diminished. Religious rights have been elevated above other, previously coequal rights.

The federal government will have to reexamine how it can address the challenges of the 21st century. Newly empowered state legislatures will need to show they have the wisdom to accompany their power. Employers, especially multijurisdictional employers, will be compelled—like their employees—to work in a splintered nation, with rights and opportunities varying state to state.
