Senate committee approves Leen’s nomination to OPM IG
The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee approved the nomination of Craig E. Leen as inspector general (IG) for the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on June 10, 2020, after a virtual hearing with the panel. Leen has served as director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) since December 2018 and as acting director since July 2017. His nomination now moves to the full Senate for confirmation.
Chamber supports Oracle in litigation against OFCCP
A business coalition led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce filed an amicus brief supporting Oracle’s litigation against the OFCCP. The coalition joined the state attorney generals of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, and West Virginia in arguing the OFCCP's enforcement structure—in which the agency is investigator, prosecutor, judge, jury, and appellate review—usurps the role of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the U.S. Department of Justice and violates the U.S. Constitution and the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
