Authors:

by H. Juanita Beecher, FortneyScott

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) announced on January 18 that it was presenting a webinar on February 1, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. EST on the registration process for its new Contractor Portal. Covered federal contractors must use the Contractor Portal to certify annually whether they have developed and maintained an affirmative action plan (AAP) for each establishment and/or functional unit, as applicable.

On February 1, contractors may begin registering to access the portal. On March 31, 2022, contractors will be able to use the Contractor Portal’s certification feature to certify their AAP compliance. By June 30, 2022, existing contractors must certify whether they have developed and maintained an AAP for each establishment and/or functional unit, as applicable. New contractors have 120 days to develop their AAPs and must register and certify compliance through the portal within 90 days.

Director Yang leads HIRE rollout

Director Jenny R. Yang led the January 19, 2022, rollout of the joint OFCCP-Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) HIRE Initiative. HIRE is a multiyear collaborative effort chaired by Yang and EEOC Chair Charlotte A. Burrows that will engage a broad array of stakeholders in expanding access to good jobs for workers from underrepresented communities and help address key hiring and recruitment challenges. HIRE will identify strategies to remove hiring barriers that limit opportunities along the lines of race, color, ethnicity, gender, LGBTQ+ status, religion, disability, age, and veteran status.
