New laws require certain accommodations for pregnant workers

Under the new Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), which took effect on June 27, 2023, employers are now required to provide “reasonable accommodations” to nursing and pregnant employees. Similarly, the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers (PUMP) Act extends employers obligations to employees who are nursing for two years after the birth of a child.
